Jarmal “Chef Redd” Smith was born and raised on Chicago’s Southside. Living with his amputee grandmother, he had to learn quick and be adaptable in order to assist her with daily living activities. This included making meals, which he took to quickly. Never thinking this was his calling, Chef Redd went to college to study post secondary education. Standing in his kitchen one day cooking dinner, feeling his grandmothers spirit, he had a realization. This epiphany led to him attend Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute, where he learned and trained from amazing chefs from around the world. Chef Redd has been a certified chef for 8 years, with over 15 years of culinary experience. Keeping true to his roots, with a dad from Louisiana, an immense love for seafood, and a passion to make quality food, Chef Redd yearned to create a food truck to be able to provide good food to communities everywhere. Bringing a new food truck in this economy poses many challenges, but Chef Redd and his team are ready for the challenge. Chef Redd continuously reminds himself to be a student FIRST!
